The Brazilian forward found the net from 12 yards to break the deadlock at Real Arena on Saturday after a cagey first hour when chances came at a premium. The home support was trying to get under the skin of Vinicius from the early stages of the match, as whistles echoed around the stadium whenever the Brazilian had possession.

Vinicius, too, on a few occasions looked back at the gallery and gave a wry smile – acknowledging the stick from the crowd. But when he finally beat Alex Remiro from the spot, the forward ran towards the corner flag with a "shoosh" gesture in an attempt to silence the fans.

Mijatovic was not pleased with Vinicius' goal celebration and in an interview with , said: "He’s throwing stones at his own roof. He’s throwing stones, especially knowing everything that’s going on around him. He should take this step, calm down a little. We were very happy with the goal, but then we were very disappointed with the celebration. Why does he need this? He’s doing himself a lot of harm. I speak to many Real Madrid fans who love him, but we’re all upset with his behaviour."
