Simon has missedmost of the 2001 and 2002 season due to injury, playing in only one FrizzellCounty Championship game this season.Marc Symington made his Durham first class debut in 1998, having made hisSunday League debut in 1997 when playing for Durham Academy. Marc and Simonjoin James Brinkley and Jimmy Daley, who were released earlier in theseason.Durham Coach Martyn Moxon said: “Simon has been a great servant to DurhamCounty Cricket Club, but unfortunately he has had a series of injuries overthe last two seasons and as a result we have had to take the difficultdecision to not renew his contract.””Similarly, it was a difficult decision regarding Marc Symington, as he hasplayed a significant amount of cricket for the First XI this season and hasalways given 100 per cent effort and commitment.
